Welcome to My New Blog!

Welcome to my new blog. Many of you are probably already asking why I have decided to enter the blogosphere? My two main reasons are to explain to our valued consumers and hairdressers the risks associated with buying professional products from unauthorized outlets (the process we call product diversion)and to use this great medium to dialogue with the most exciting professionals in the world- our stylist community.

As you can see, there is a comment box below each post. Please feel free to send me messages in this section. I will read all of your comments and while I may not be able to respond to every one of you, I will continue to address hot topics in this forum.

Hello. I have been hearing rave reviews about your Kerastase Noctogenist products which currently are only available outside of the U.S.

I recently read an article in Elle (US) magazine that mentioned these products will soon be available in the US. However, when I contacted Kerastase US customer service, they denied this. Can you please tell me if teh Noctogenist products will be available in the US and when? I'm very excited to use them - I love the kerastase line!

Thank you so much for creating this blog. I have a very long-standing unanswered question for L'Oreal USA: Why is there no American equivalent of the Canadian Ombrelle line of sunscreen? Now that Mexoryl has *finally* received approval by the FDA, I was hoping to be able to purchase Ombrelle (or an American equivalent) by now, but it seems that Mexoryl-containing products are only facial moisturizers in the L'Oreal, Anthelios or Lancome lines. And it's a little ridiculous to try to use those products if you're at the pool or beach and need to cover an adult body. So when can we expect to find a large bottle of L'Oreal or Ombrelle sunscreen in the regular drugstores next to the Coppertone and Banana Boat?

BEWARE ALSO BUYING ON EBAY:
David: Thank you for taking the time to warn us of the potential fraudulent products being offered to us when we look other places than direct from our Stylists' Salon or direct from the Kerastase website. I have been a devout Kerastase follower for many years since I was first introduced to this wonderful brand. I have always purchased from both my salon and your website. There came a time that I found a "deal" on ebay for a Salon size Kerastase product at a discount price. When the item arrived I immediately compared it to my own authentic product and the differences were quite apparent in both color and texture and additionally did not function in the same manner as the "real deal" when used on my hair. So, in an effort to increase awareness on this subject I am offering my experiences as a warning to those who may be finding great deals on ebay for their favorite Kerastase product.
Again, David, thank you for taking the time to air this important concern and thank you for such a fantastic product! I have overworked, colored hair and my favorite line of Kerastase (masquintense, oleo relax, bain satin for fine hair) keeps it looking wonderful and protects it from all the harm that I do to it! I am a devout follower and will remain one. I get many compliments on my long hair!
Warm regards,
Christine

I understand retailers' point of view why they do not want consumers purchasing their products from unauthorized retail outlets. Salons typically charge more and do not offer the same selection. For example, salons only carry one line of Reflection in the US while other outlets also offer the 'grey market' products in that line for fine hair. Why don't salons in the US offer the same full selection available offshore? Denise

Thank you for your email... I absolutely agree that you should not buy Kérastase from an unauthorized dealer. Years ago, the manager of Vidal Sasson in Beverly Hills had told me how even they had to be interviewed by L’Oréal in order to carry the Kérastase line in their salon. So it made me very unsure of what product I'd be buying from a beauty supply store that claims to carry the Kérastase line.

This is why I am so glad that I can go right to the Official website for Kérastase at http://kerastase.com and buy directly from the company.

You have a wonderful product line and it absolutely keeps my hair healthy, shiny and well protected - Thank you!

I ordered the CRÈME UV DÉFENSE ACTIVE
Multi-Protection Cream for Sun-Exposed Hair from your kerastase.com last week.
Your website's usage instructions states to use on dry/towel dried hair and it's a leave protection treament and per your 800# rep.

I received the product, the instructions say "apply after shampoo and rinse out" I called your 800 number, they don't know what to tell me. I'm frustrated with your company since you dont seem to know your own products and cant send me a replacement! The 800number girl told me that if I wanted something else or refund, I have to ship the product back to you on my own. I just want a leave in sun protector for my hair. I do LOVE all of my other Kerastase products! Am I going to be stuck with a $34 product now knowing how to use it?

What kind or company is this?
Can't stand behind your products?
Don't know how to use your own products! Mis advertising on your web?

Mr. Craig, I would very much like to be contacted by your office concerning the serious problem of diversion. I own About An Inch in Historic downtown Titusville Fl. We are a full service salon with a large retail center. Almost exactly a year ago we were approched by collectors, at that time we were a seri salon (our main thrust) With at least 20 other top brands represented. I did exactly what L'OREAL suggest, I got their names, phone numbers, and knew they were staying in the area at least for that night. I called the L'OREAL hot line, called my sales rep from ISR, I called Chuck Hastings, VP of ISR, and the MATRIX hot line, their sales rep, and the VP of Ace Beauty all with no return calls. I called for several days with no return calls for more than a week. Not long after that Seri showed up in CVS on Hwy 50, it was at lease a month before my sales rep could even get authorization to go pick up some of the product, I even spoke with Manny with L'OREAL at that time and a year later no one has asked me for the name,or number of the collectors, nor has any one followed up with us to let us know where the Seri came from in that CVS. We now contract with a private lable to make our own line which we have done very well with while continuing to stock a small ammount of many of the other name brands. All this was very dissapointing and I was made to feel that all this diversion marketing we have been receiving is no more than good PR for your prospective companies. I hope to hear from you. I am not sure if this is being posted in the right area but: I Love Kerastase products, and don't mind spending the extra money to purchase them. However I do NOT LOVE the quality of customer service that I as a customer received when calling customer service. I work in retail, and i expected the quality of service to match considering its a higher end retail product. After dealing with two seperate representatives i asked to speak with a member of management, and told she would return my call within 24 hours. after 4 days, i called again and once again no one available to talk to me and again no return call. this happened an additional 2times over a month until i finally gave up. Love the product, but very disappointed with the service!!!!
